Counseling for Anxiety

Gain control over your life again

Anxiety can be a huge drain on your day-to-day life, and can keep you from being fully alive

You may be so overwhelmed that you can’t stop thinking about all the worries and stressors in your life.  The never-ending, racing thoughts make it difficult to sleep.  The ruminating often leads you down trails of worst-case scenarios.  Perhaps you’ve had panic attacks and aren’t sure why.

You may feel so self-conscious that you’d rather avoid most interactions with other people. You ask yourself if you’ll ever feel comfortable around others in social settings… if you’ll ever feel comfortable in your own skin.

You don’t want anxiety to rule your life anymore, but you’re not sure what to do next, and your friends and family can’t help.

  • • Restlessness, on edge

    • Abundance/ surge of energy

    • High stress

    • Easily fatigued/ energy crash

    • Concentration issues

    • Irritability

    • Muscle tension

    • Sleep issues – can’t fall or stay asleep, unable to get quality sleep

    • Specific fears/ phobias

    • Avoidance behaviors

    • Perfectionism

    • Procrastination

Through therapy you can experience relief from anxiety.

As an anxiety therapist in Inverness, I know that anxiety can take over every area of your life.  Avoidance has been your go-to survival strategy, yet it really hasn’t helped at all. I employ a holistic framework that takes into account all facets of life and well-being.  I use multiple approaches to treat anxiety:

  • CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy)

CBT is an evidence-based approach that involves identifying and challenging patterns of negative thoughts and behaviors so that you can respond differently and feel better

  • ERP (Exposure & Response Prevention)

ERP is an evidence-based approach that systematically and gradually introduces exposures to the source of fear so that you can experience less distress and conquer your fear

  • EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

EFT or “Tapping” has a solid body of research and evidence to support its effectiveness in treating a variety of concerns. EFT is like acupuncture but without the needles!

Additionally, I love to work with clients to help them understand their Autonomic Nervous System and harness this knowledge to reduce anxiety, manage stress, engage calm in the mind and body, and facilitate connection.

Note: If you believe that adverse childhood experiences may have contributed to your anxiety, it is possible that treatment that focuses on your individual experiences vs your diagnosis will be more effective.  If this rings true for you, I invite you to navigate to the trauma (& attachment wounds) page of my website to learn about how I can help-and why previous treatment for your anxiety may not have been quite enough…

I believe that you are more than your anxiety and I would love to help.
